SATURDAY APRIL 5

It was morning and time to get up. There was a knock at the door and Matthew got up from a chair he was sitting in to open it. Matthew was ready to go to breakfast and had been reading work papers on the new training center. I sat up to see Mom, Cindy and Amy at the door. They had come to help get the kids ready for breakfast. All of a sudden I wanted to throw up. I jumped out of bed and ran passed Mom to the bathroom. On my knees in the bathroom over the toilet, I started dry heaves. The dog came and looked in the bathroom. Mom followed and looked at me. She could see I was not throwing up anything. Mom turned to Matthew and yelled at him. Mom said, Matthew!. What have you done? Matthew said, what? Mom said, your wife is puking her guts out? Matthew eyes got really big. The doctor had a talked with him about getting me pregnant so soon. The doctor told him a woman’s body needs 2 years to recover and I had just had twins. Mom said, the doctor talked to you about this. Get in there and get her a wet wash rag or ice. Matthew said, oh shit!. He headed for the bathroom. I was so messed up from dry heaving. Matthew put a cold wet wash rag on my neck. He then felt my forehead. Matthew said, you are burning up. Let me get your temperature. He went out of the bathroom and got the kids thermometer and took my temperature. Then he said, 104.5. I want to put you in the shower. He put his hands under my arms and picked me up sitting me on a chair in the shower. I couldn’t hold my head head up. It was leaning to one side and I threw up yellow bile on his hand. I could hardly open my mouth for it to run out. Matthew said, oh, sweet hart. Hang in there. Matthew holding me in the chair with one hand removed his shirt with another hand while yelling for Mom. Mom came in and Matthew said, could you get me a nurse and a wheel chair. Her temperature is 104 something. Mom got her phone and called for a nurse. Matthew kicked his shoes off and turned the cold water on. I went oh, loudly. That hurts. I was moaning so much and saying it hurts. Matthew said, It will not take much longer. Hang in there. Matthew said, can you sit in the chair without me holding you. I said, I think so. He let go of me to get the thermometer. My temp was down to 101. I was feeling better but it still hurt really bad. There was a knock at the door and Mom opened it to a nurse with a wheel chair. Mom said, thankyou for coming. Angel is in the bathroom and she is very sick. The nurse went to the bathroom to talk to Matthew. Matthew turned off the water and explained to the nurse what was happening. He then moved out of the way so the nurse could take over. She took my temp and it was down to 100. She asked questions about when did I start felling sick and other things. She looked in my ears and throat. She then said, your throat is really red. I would like to get some liquid Tylenol. She handed me a cup and said, try to drink this. I managed to get it down. She turned to Matthew and said, I need dry clothes. Mom took over. She gave the nurse clean underwear, summer dress and towel. Matthew went and sat down. The nurse said, please go take everyone else’s temperature and close the door. Mom thought that was a really good idea. Mom told Matthew and they started checking out everyone else. The nurse and I got the wet clothes off. She then got me out of the shower and on to the toilet. She got me all dried off and the dry clothes on. She asked how I felt. I still felt sick but not like I was. She said, I only gave you a little Tylenol. So here is the rest. I wanted to see if it was going to stay down. After I was ready she said, Matthew could you put her in the chair? She came out of the bathroom. Matthew stood me up and pulled up my pants. He then picked me up and put me in the chair. The nurse said, anyone else sick? Mom said, we checked everyone else and everyone is fine. The nurse said, do you have some where we can separate her from everyone? It looks like the strep. Matthew said, yes. He told Mom he was going to put me next door. We will put her in the next room. He rolled my chair out to the door with the nurse following. He put his palm on the door security and the door unlocked. He rolled me in up to the bed. He said, do you need to go back to the bathroom? I said, no. Matthew pulled back the sheets and picked me up. He put me in the bed and covered me up. The nurse said, she was going to stay for an hour. Could you bring her chicken soup, apple juice and ginger ale? Matthew said, no problem. Be right back. Matthew went back to our room and order what the nurse wanted. He put his shirt and shoes back on and helped Mom get everyone to breakfast. He returned with a tray for me. He added a red rose and a note I love you. That was so sweet. I sipped a little ginger ale and told the nurse I had to go to sleep. My temperature was down to 99 and all I wanted to do was sleep. The nurse told Matthew to come back in an hour. She also said, don’t kiss her. She is contagious. Matthew came back later and I was asleep. She said, at this time give her more Tylenol and if there is a problem call. Matthew said, ok and let the nurse out. He sat in the chair and read more paper work.

Three hours later I started to moan and dry heaving in the bed. Matthew jumped up and grabbed a little waste bin off my end table and put it under my mouth. He then took my temperature and it was 108. He freaked. He grabbed the phone and called the doctor. She said to put me in an ice bath and she was sending nurses over. He called the kitchen and asked they send up ice. He picked me up and put me in the tub in the bathroom. He stopped the tub and turned on the cold water. There was a knock at the door it was 2 nurses. They took over in the bathroom. Then the ice came and he gave it to the nurses. When they pored the ice in the tub, I thought I was going to die. It was so painful. Then my teeth started chattering. I kept saying, oh. Oh, god. Finally one of the nurses said, her temperature is coming down. After 30 minutes or so, one nurse gave me some more meds. Then finally one nurse said, ok. Let’s get her out of the tub and pulled the drain plug while the other one ask Matthew to pick me up and put me on the toilet. I was so glad to be out of that cold water. He then went back out of the bathroom. The nurses took my clothes off and dried me off. One nurse said, do you have to go before we put you in bed? I whispered, no. One of the nurses wrapped a towel around me and the other asked Matthew to put me in bed. Matthew picked me up and carried me to bed. I said to Matthew, please don’t hate me? Matthew said, I don’t hate you, but don’t you died on me woman. I love you and can’t live without you! The kids need you. Once in bed the nurse the nurse took the towel and covered my naked body with a sheet. The other nurse started taking blood. Then they set up a IV with a stand and bags. They also stuck in a cath. One nurse left with the blood with the other checked everything and took my temperature again. It was back to 100. I fell asleep and she turned to Matthew. She said, don’t put anything on her but a sheet. It’s better if we can keep her here rather than expose everyone at the clinic. We need to keep her cool. I have set up bags to keep her hydrated and when we get the blood work back the doctor will say if we need something else. I will be here until 7pm. So if you want to go take care of something I will call you if something happens. Right now she is fine and I will be checking her every 30 minutes. Matthew was just about in tears said, She’s ok? The nurse smiled and said, yes. We think she has something that is going around and sometimes it hits so people harder than others. Don’t kiss her or hug her. We don’t want you to be sick. Matthew said, if I go you will call if there is a problem. The nurse said, yes. We just need to keep her temp down and maybe she will sleep it off. Matthew said, ok. I will go. Can I call you? The nurse smiled and said, of course. Anytime. Matthew left even though he didn’t want to. I was sound asleep the rest of the day.

SATURDAY APRIL 6 to SUNDAY APRIL 14 I was in bed all week when finally Sunday my temperature broke. During the week the nurse had me try to drink apple juice and eat pudding. Sunday evening the nurse had me try to eat a liquid diet. She also called for a sitter since I was out of the woods. I was so hungry that I consumed everything on my tray. The nurse told me she was leaving and I would have sitters. She took the cath. out. Two women came and one got me to the bathroom while the others changed the sheets. Once back in bed the nurse took the IV’s out and everyone left but one. She said, I was to tell her if I had to go to the bathroom. I called Matthew and told him the good news. He was so happy. He kept saying, I love love so much. It really put a smile on my face. I couldn’t believe I was so sick I couldn’t even move to throw up. All I could do was open my mouth a little.

MONDAY APRIL 15 to THURSDAY 18 I stayed in bed most of the time sleeping but by Thursday I was eating like a pig, watching tv and wanted to go back to my room. Matthew would come by once in a while and tell me how much he loved me. Mom had move the kids down stairs to her room and I missed everyone. I called the doctor and asked if I could go back to my room but she said, not yet.
