The Pain

We finished dinner. He took our plates and set them in the sink then turn to me and said, “We have to get you a shower and change of clothes.” I responded with, “I said I would not be a problem be but you are not giving me a shower.” He smiled and laughed little. He said, ” I such as I would like to, you are going to take your shower alone. You have to get cleaned up to go to a doctor. So come on follow me up stairs.” We went up stairs and he opened the shower door. He said, “Ok, go in take your clothes off and hand them out. Soap and shampoo are right there.” I stepped in and hand out my pants, shirt and under wear. I started the shower and it felt really good. When I was finished I turned off the water and he opened the door a crack and handed in a towel. After I dried off I wrapped my hair in the towel. I called out, “Are you out there? I need clothes.” The door opened a crack and like a true gentleman he handed in a shirt, blouse and under wear. I said, ” thankyou.” I rolled the skirt up little so as not to get water on it. When I was dressed I stepped out of the shower. He was there and said to me, “How do you feel?” I responded with, ” I feel great.” He said. “Good, we are going down stairs.” We went back to the living room where I sat on the couch. He turned the tv back on and handed me the controller. He took the towel off my hand and used it to dry my hair. He sat back down in the chair and said, “Did you find anything to watch?” I responded, “Not really.” He then got up from the chair and said, ” I have to clean up the kitchen. If you need anything you know where to find me.” I sat going through the channels thinking I do feel really good. I found an Adams family show on one of the channels and started watching that.

He came back after awhile and sat in the chair. He looked at the tv and said, ” Its 6:00. Did you check the movie channels?” I said, “I don’t know.” I handed him the controller. He scanned several channel and found some movie to watch. About 45 minutes into it a song came on. He stood up reached out his hand and said, “dance with me.” I stood up in front of him and he took my hand and we started dancing. He pulled me in really close and again put my head against his chest. After a minute of swaying back and forth to the music he said, “You smell really nice. Not like last time.” When the music ended he stepped back from me. He put one hand across his waist and bowed saying, “Thankyou my lady.” I couldn’t help but smile. I sat back on the couch. About 7:30 and watching the movie I got a sharp pain in my back like muscle spasms. I winced. He look at me. You could tell he was curious. We went back to watching the movie when it happened again, only this time the pain went down the back of my right leg ended in a charley horse in my calf. I went, “Oh god that hurt and started rubbing my calf.” He looked at me and said, “What is it?” I told him these are pains I have been getting since I got sick. Do you have any pain meds? He left the room and while he was gone I got another on in my back. I was thinking, I felt so good what was causing this? He returned with some pills. He showed them to me and said, “These will make you very sleep so don’t take them unless you really need them.” I said, ” It has stopped so I will wait.” He put them on the table next to his chair and went back to watch the show. About an hour later we were watching something when it started again. This time I got a charley horse in the ball of my left. God did it hurt. I stretched leg and cried out in pain. He jumped up and came over. I told he what was happening. He rubbed the bottom of my foot. Then I got got a stabbing pain on the top side of my left thigh. I said, “I think I will take those pills now.” He went to the kitchen and returned with a glass of water. Before taking them I had a pain in my back. Like where was a box on my back from under my ribs to my tail bone. Everything in that area hurt. When I could, I took the water and down the pills. A sharp pain went down from my groin to my right calf causing a same charley horse in my right calf. I breathed deeply through my nose and out of my mouth to a count of 10 until the pain stopped. I then sat back and tried to relax. He said to me, “How long have you been sick like this?” I said, “About a year and a half.” He then responded, “Did Jeff do anything?” I said, ” He took me to the ER a couple of times and to a few doctors, but they didn’t find anything. There was a doctor who was going to see me but someone killed him.” I started getting sleepy. My hips hurt and felt like they were spreading. I said, “I want to go to bed now.” I was having trouble getting up from the couch so he helped me. I couldn’t walk well because of the pain in my knees. So he put my hand on his shoulder and his arm around my waist. When we got to the stairs I try to lift my right leg onto the next step but to pain spasms in my knee were so bad I couldn’t. I said to him, ” I cant get up the stairs. I hurts too much.” He said, ” I wont make you. I will put you in my room and sleep on the couch.” We went passed the stairs toward the back of the house into his room. He folded back the sheets and sat me on the bed. I tried to lay down but couldn’t get my legs on the bed. He put my legs and feet on the bed and covered me up. He set in a chair next to the bed. I looked at him and then the pills took hold and I fell asleep. Thank goodness, I couldn’t stand that pain and more.

He woke me in the middle of the night with more pills and water. He said I was tossing, turning and crying in pain. I quickly swallowed the pills with some water and went back to sleep. A couple of hour later I open one eye and saw him on the bed. He was on top of the covers with pants, socks and a white cowboy hat covering his face. I went back to sleep.
