SUNDAY NOVEMBER 26

I woke up this morning feeling really good. I had trouble walking because my bones hurt and the kids kicked several times today. I didn’t mind the kicking because I knew the babies were fine. Scott came in the morning and said he loved me and went to work. Conner showed with a rose and peppermint chocolates for my stomach. He stayed until after dinner. It was a nice visit and then he kissed me good by. Scott texted he had the day off and would come to see me tomorrow. I texted back that I had an exam in the morning and I would text him when I was done.

The extraction team had reached another airport. They boarded another helicopter and headed to their destination. They were all ready the take on anything they needed. The four men and a pilot had picked up a nice plane and were on their way to their destination. There was Josh who goes with Megan, Devin has been cooking in the kitchen. Jacob who had been a vet and Mike who was a Medic. Since a medic was requested they were expecting anything and were wondering about the goats.

Matthew was sitting on the floor when he woke up. He checked the goats and the dog. Everyone was good but he was hungry. He went to the monk in charge of the room and gave him some money asking for 2 bowls. One for him and one for the dog. He asked for goats milk for the goats and supplies for his trip. The monk took the money and went to get everything that was requested. He returned and gave Matthew the bowls and goats milk. He said, the supplies he request were ready for his trip. Matthew needed goats milk for the baby goats for their trip.

It was very dark out when Matthew who sitting on the floor with 4 very small baby goats, a German shepherd and a bunch of bags when he saw a large helicopter land on the pad with 4 military guys and a pilot. The military guys got out. The monk from the desk met them at the door and pointed to a sign on the door. It said they couldn’t come in with guns in several languages. Matthew stood up and told them through the door they wouldn’t need them. They put all their weapons back in the helicopter. When they were let in Matthew said, could two of you go with this man to the medical clinic and get Jean. Two men went with the monk from the desk. The other two men started helping Matthew pick up his bags. Matthew said, bags against the wall, then the dog, the goats and me, all on a blanket. Matthew took a rope tying it to the baby goats and put it in the mouth of dog and said Sergeant you bring the goats. The men picking up the bags just looked at what Matthew said to the dog. Matthew then picked up the rest of the bags and followed his man to the helicopter. The dog followed Matthew and the baby goats followed the dog in a line. When they got to the helicopter Matthew said I want the bags in this corner along the side and blanket to sit on. The man got in the helicopter and put the bags and blanket as instructed. Matthew then handed him the baby goats one by one and said put them against the bags. Matthew went to put the dog in but, the dog had to pee. Matthew climbed in sitting up on the blanket with his back against the wall. Just then the two men arrived with Jean on a stretcher. Another man had gone to get Matthew’s supplies.

Matthew spread his legs and said put Jean between my legs leaning against me with his head in my lap. They did and hung a medical bag Jean had attached to him on the helicopter wall. Matthew covered Jean with a blanket. Matthew said to Jean how is that? Jean said, cold feet. Matthew looked under the blanket and Jean had nothing on his feet. Matthew saw the dog coming. Matthew yelled to the dog come on and the dog jumped in. Matthew said to the dog Sergeant, feet. And waved him to Jean’s feet. The dog crawled to Jean’s feet under the blanket where Jean’s feet were against the dogs back. Matthew said to one of the guys, tuck the blanket around the dog and his feet. And the guy did. Matthew then said, do you have any beef jerky. The man searched threw a bag and held up a nice piece to jerky. Matthew said, please give it to the dog. Matthew then asked the man for a protein drink and  he pulled one out of a bag and handed it to Matthew. Matthew said, thank you. Matthew opened it and with Jean in his lap said to Jean, try to drink this. Jean took a sip. Matthew said, take your time. He drank about half the bottle and said, I have to sleep. Matthew covered Jean’s face more just leaving his nose and mouth exposed so he could breathe. The last man returned to the helicopter with the supplies of mostly goats milk and got in and shut the door. The helicopter took off and they were on their way.

Matthew drank the rest of the bottle of protein and said to Jean, let me know when you can drink some more. Jean went to sleep. There was one man up front with the pilot and three in back with Matthew, Jean and the animals. One of the men near Matthew was amazed at how the dog listened to Matthew. He said to Matthew, how long have you had your dog? Matthew replied, several hours. Matthew shut his eyes to rest. Two men looked at each other. Here was a man that looked liked death warmed over, developing a beard, wearing a monks robe with 4 goats and a dog claiming to be Matthew. And this Matthew was holding another man in bad shape his arms making sure he gets home. One man whispered to the other, I think I see Matthew in there and they always said he never leaves anyone behind.  Josh then said, I am sure than is Jean. It was a couple of hours trip to an airport and Matthew was able to get Jean to drink some more.
